The aim of Ayurveda is in prevention of disease and promoting positive health, beauty and long life. It encompasses the food we eat, weather, astrology, crystals, meditation, yoga, exercise, pulse, sound, energy and massage therapy. I deliver the massage therapies in a modern western way and my treatments are inspired from my traditional training I did in India.

Indian Head massage (IHM)

IHM is a head, neck and shoulder massage that you receive while clothed and seated.

It originates from India. Traditionally it’s passed down in families and is an ancient tradition.

In India the massage is performed only on the scalp but in the west the routine has been adapted to include the upper back, shoulders and neck. My routine also includes some neck and shoulder work. It’s a safe treatment but there are some conditions that may need additional care or adaptation.

During an IHM treatment you will be seated in a chair, with a low back.  Preferably you will wear a light shirt, vest or t shirt. I will then perform a massage routine to the upper back, shoulders, neck, and scalp that lasts 30 minutes.

I can incorporate the use of massage oil into the routine depending on your preference. As a qualified Aroma therapist, I can make blends to suit your needs. If you choose an IHM treatment with essential oil then a towel can be provided for your convenience so that your shoulders and upper back can be bare.

The massage is tailored to whatever you need – relaxation or revitalisation – and a lasting effect can be achieved with a short treatment.

Repeated treatments can be beneficial in maintaining a healthy scalp and hair and managing stress and tension.

It gives you a feeling of total well-being and may help with

  • Stress
  • Sleep problems
  • Head tension
  • Anxiety
  • Eye strain
  • Headaches & migraines
  • It may help to relax and relieve tension in the neck and shoulders
After your Indian Head Massage you should feel relaxed, rejuvenated, revived and recharged.

Natural Face Lift Massage

Natural Face Lift Massage (Facial Rejuvenation) is a gentle non-invasive approach to looking younger. Although ageing is a natural process, this therapy may help delay the visible signs of ageing and prevent further damage in the future by means of simple, natural and effective massage techniques to make the most of the assets you possess. It successfully combines ancient theory with a practical, modern approach to looking and feeling your best – whatever your age. Its basis lies in Ayurveda, an ancient healing system. This technique does not involve the use of any oils, creams or equipment. This makes it an ideal treatment for anyone suffering from allergies to products.

How does it work?

Tension can very easily build up in our facial muscles without us realising it. Over a period of time, habitual thoughts and emotions can lock themselves into expressions on our faces – particularly around the eyes and mouth. This can be exacerbated by additional factors such as sun, pollution, alcohol, poor diet, lack of sleep, the effects of gravity and every day stresses and strains. Under such conditions muscles can actually “dry up” and contract, inhibiting freedom of expression. This can encourage ageing and the formation of wrinkles as the face loses its muscle tone and elasticity and begins to sag.

Natural Face Lift Massage can relieve tension in these areas. It brings a deep feeling of relaxation to the whole body and the noticeable effects can quickly be seen on the face.

During the treatment, over ninety face and neck muscles are systematically massaged. Acupressure points are activated, stimulating energy flow and releasing deep-seated tension, freeing layers of muscle and connective tissue (8 of the 12 major energy meridians have points on the face!). Smoothing, sweeping techniques are used so that circulation and elimination are improved and the tissues can glide smoothly over the deeper layers of muscle and bone. The whole process has been described as a bit like ironing out the creases, making the skin feel smoother and softer and improving the complexion and skin tone.

Although you can see a difference after only one treatment, the effects are cumulative and work best over a course of 6-8, one hour weekly treatments depending on each individually assessed person – taking account of age, skin condition and lifestyle factors. Regular top up treatments are recommended, monthly.

This wonderfully relaxing treatment lessens wrinkles and expression lines, tightens facial contours, tones and improves the complexion, releases stress and tension in surrounding muscles, soothes tension headaches, eyestrain and stress-related symptoms, enhances feelings of well-being and encourages a positive and confident appearance. Bagginess and puffiness around eyes and chin are reduced and flexibility and mobility return to the face. As well as the visible benefits, clients often report feeling more relaxed and positive, sleeping better and obtaining relief from headaches and other stress related symptoms.

If you have a medical condition or take prescribed drugs it would be worthwhile just checking with your doctor if Ayurvedic treatments are suitable for you or you can sign an informed consent stating the treatment has been fully explained and you are willing to proceed with a treatment. I would advise individuals that are currently suffering from a fever, diarrhoea or vomiting or those who have any contagious infection, such as athletes foot, verrucas and so on refrain from treatment until the condition has cleared. Pregnant women in the first 12 weeks should avoid receiving any treatment, after which a modified treatment can be performed.
